We are a non-governmental, non-profit association that has been supporting foreigners in equal access to education and labor integration since 2004. In the form of social services, we help families to orient in the Czech educational system. We implement Czech language courses of various formats, specializations and levels. We provide pedagogical staff with methodological support and counselling in the area of education and inclusion of children and pupils with a different first language. Our long-term goal is to ensure a smooth integration process, during which students who come from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds receive adequate support anchored in the requirements of the Czech educational system. Through public activities, we help to develop an open dialogue and understanding between foreigners and the majority society.
We help parents with migration experience and their children to orientate themselves in Czech educational system and to integrate into society. We offer courses in Czech as a second (foreign) language for children and adults.
We provide teachers and schools with counselling in the education of children who have no or insufficient knowledge of the Czech language. We offer seminars, methodological support and teaching materials. Since 2009, we have been managing the website Inkluzivní škola.cz where we publish information and materials for teachers.
We establish, urge and advocate systemic changes that reflect the needs of schools and children with a different first language and that develop their potential.
Through activities for the public, we support understanding between foreigners and the majority society.
We believe that educated people are good for society, no matter where they come from.
Our mission is to actively help with determining and improving conditions that support equal opportunities for families and children with migration experience, especially in the field of education which is necessary for successful integration into society.
The association that guarantees equal opportunities for everybody and helps them to develop and use their potential.

META has been registered by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic in December 2004 as a civic association under identification number (ID) 26982633. Since the 28th of January 2014, META has been registered in the register Community interest societies at the Municipal Court in Prague.
In 2004, the founders, based on many years of work experience in existing organizations working with migrants, decided to focus their activities on supporting young migrants and offer this group assistance in determining their future life in the Czech Republic or elsewhere, choosing study and career path, and solving problems related to their specific social and legal status.

META started practically functioning in September 2006, when the European Social Fund supported a “start-up” project called the Counselling and Information Center for Young Migrants (PIC). This two-year project was formed to ensure the establishment and two-year operation of the counselling and information center, as the basic META unit.
The main activity of the center was to provide qualified social counselling focused on educational and subsequent job opportunities in the Czech Republic with regard to the specific needs of the target group. The aim was to support young migrants in further education,0 in choosing a suitable profession and to enable them to share and solve other problems related to their “migrant” experience.
The activities of the association have been progressively expanding and in addition to counselling for foreigners, the assosciation is currently engaging in conceptual activities in the field of education of foreigners, counselling for teachers and the implementation of educational activities.
