We are opening two classes (24 students in a class) for students from all countries aged about 15 – 18, who completed compulsory school attendance (9 years of schooling) and are interested in studying at high school in the Czech Republic.
Our intensive one year course of Czech as a second language aims at enhancing language skills necessary for succeding in high schools where Czech is the language of instruction and also at getting more familiar with Czech culture and everyday life.
The course is designed for young people with different mother tongue (beginners in Czech– level A0), regardless of their residence status in the Czech Republic or country of origin.
The classes will take place in Prague. We do not teach during the traditional Czech summer holidays and state holidays.

The instruction and all the course activities prepare the students for studies at high school, but not for an entrance exam to particular school. We put our emphasis on teaching communication skills, grammar and vocabulary of B1-2 level. This level allows speakers to be independent in everyday life and during their studies. We also focus on topics and vocabulary – from elementary school subjects ( Czech language, science, geography, history, physics, chemistry, civics and maths), development of study skills (cooperation, discussion, problem solving, looking up information etc.) and getting more familiar with Czech culture and everyday life.
Candidates interested in this course can register by filling in the on-line form HERE.
The course capacity is limited. The order in which candidates register does not effect the admission. We cannot guarantee a place in the course in advance.
If the candidates meet the course acceptance criteria, they will go through a two-round selection process. The results will be known by the end of August.
Round 1
After the registration, the candidate will set an appointment with a social worker. During the meeting in the first round the candidates will receive essential information, they will talk about their motivation and take a simple Czech language test. If the candidate meets the criteria to be accepted, he or se will be invited to participace in the second round.
Round 2
The candidates will participate in a sample lesson for beginners. The main objective of this lesson is to get to know each other, find out what the motivation to study and align the needs of the candidate with others.
The course is free of charge. The participant will only pay a contribution of approx. 1,500 CZK per term to the class fund (for study materials etc.) and a refundable deposit of 5,000 CZK. The deposit will be fully refunded at the end of the course to all participants who meet the course requirements, e.g. a minimum of 80 percent attendance in each term.
