Information on admission to High Schools (SŠ): enrollment form and the 2nd round of admissions

What to do after the results of the 1st round of admissions had been announced

The results (a list of admitted and non-admitted applicants) are published on school websites. In case of a negative decision, an applicant is also notified by post.

In order to find out whether you have been admitted or not, you will need to identify yourself in the applicants list by your personal registration number that the school had assigned to your application and sent you by e-mail.

I have been admitted – enrollment form

Admitted applicants have 10 working days for submitting the enrollment form to the school, starting from the day when the admissions results have been announced on the school website.

The enrolment form is a document that you either receive from your primary school in the Czech Republic or, if you have not been attending a school in the CR, it will be issued to you by the education department of your local regional authority (for Prague, this is the Prague City Hall). The enrollment form can be requested personally at the office or you can send the request by post.

  • Each applicant receives only 1 enrollment form
  • The enrolment form should be submitted to the school, to which you have been admitted
  • If the school does not receive the enrollment form, the student is assumed to not be intending to enroll
  • If you have been admitted to more than one school at the same time, you must choose a school to attend and submit your enrollment form to that school only
  • You can submit the enrolment form to the school personally or send it as a registered letter by post
  • The enrolment form must be signed by a parent (for the applicants younger than 18 years old)

(!) Please make sure your name and surname are legibly written on the post box at the contact address that you have provided.

I have not been admitted – appeal

In case you have not been admitted, you can appeal within 3 working days after receiving the written decision of non-admission from the school.

If you have been successful in appealing against your non-admission and your enrolment form has already been submitted to another school, you can take your enrolment form back. The school will confirm the cancellation and then you will have to complete the 2nd Section of the enrolment form.

The 2nd and the following rounds of admissions

In case the high school determines that there are still available places after the first round, the school may announce the second round of admissions for the courses with unfilled capacities (and additional rounds, until the capacities are filled). Then, along with the announcement of the additional round, the head of the school publishes the new admission criteria.

Information on the announcement of the next rounds of admissions is to be published by individual schools on their websites. For this reason you should follow the updates of the schools that offer the courses of your interest. We recommend that you check the websites regularly so that you do not miss the deadlines for applying for the additional round of admissions. You can also ask a school about whether it is planning to open the next round of admissions for the given course.

  • There is no limit to the number of applications that can be submitted by one applicant during additional admissions’ rounds.
  • There is no general admission test in additional rounds of admissions.
